SkyBoat is the realistic "vehicle" version of the popular "wearable" SkyScout personal airship. Skyboat contains a simple and robust flight script by Meg Madrigal and it banks when it turns.
SkyBoat is the Second Life version of a REAL-LIFE home-made Personal UltraLight Dirigible made from off-the-shelf materials to keep the cost under $5,000!
If you join the SL Group "UltraLight Airship Builders," you can help the real world effort to develop a prototype of this bird.
The lift gas for this affordable dirigible will also be home-made! A hydrogen generator hooked to 120 VAC will electrolyze water to make H2. The cost to make this hydrogen, ($500), will be a tenth the cost of using depleting, non-renewable, helium lift gas.
*Note: the UAB group sponsors an "Airship Regatta" the last Saturday of each month at Lily Airstrip at 1:30 p.m. SL Time* Come float with us! Or just observe a striking flotilla of airships in action.
- Big and beautiful, 30' high, 40' wide and 50' long!
- Design weight is a mere 254 lbs, a true UltraLight!
- Super economical 5 horsepower gas engine!
- All parts from the neighborhood hardware store
- Realism! A replica of an actual RL Skyboat in development.
