v3.3 of the SkyDome Snow Machine now comes with more features and control. Verbal command activated. Once turned on, the snow machine can be commanded to change it's projection for size, density, snowflake lifespan, speed of fall, and whether or not to use wind. It also comes with easy default preset behaviors for a quick start. This machine can provide snow for a small room(10 meters end to end) or a sizable parcel(80 meters end to end).

*This is the Copy version. The Non-Copy version is also available(L$300) on SL Marketplace. See Related Items

It also has the benefit of show/hide commands if it's appearance gets in the way. The emitter's shell is also modifiable so it's size can be increased to lengthen particle rendering distance.

An extremely powerful tool, capable of putting 312,500 snowflakes in the air at once, or filling the air with a light breeze of sporadic snowfall.

Detailed instructions are included in the package.

NOTES:

*This is a very powerful particle system with a maximum setting capable of putting approximately 312,500 snowflakes in the air at one time, covering 80 meters end to end. Careful not to grief your neighbors by snowing on their land. Experiment with a lesser combination of settings to fit the snow within your property boundries.

*Particles are rendered client-side and CANNOT create lag in a sim, and this system's script creates about as much sim lag as a single person's bling earing. At worst, the viewer's system may lag as a result of the visual processing, or simply not render the visual particle effects that become too much for their graphics card to track.

*You can only view so many particles, so it's possible that you may not get the full effect in a busy sim with other particle things going on.

*Also, you won't see the snow unless your avatar can see the Snow Machine(in terms of range). This means if you fly away, you won't see your snow effect until you're back in it again. This has to do with a rendering rule, stating that objects(particle emitters are objects) will not be rendered visually outside of a certain range, and when an object can't be seen, neither can it's particles. This is scaled based on an object's size.

In reference to the above, the emitter's shell has been made modify, so you can change it's size to larger. 2 meters all around is a good size to be seen at all distances, so the particles will still render when your avatar is away from the emitter. This works even if the prim is in hide mode.

*Try not to use more than you need when setting Snow Rate and Snow Life. Setting these at maximum damn near caps a client's particle viewing capacity(Not quite). This won't lag a sim, but it could affect other particle things in the area(In terms of what your avatar can view). If you hog all of the particles with one emitter, you won't be able to see other particle things nearby, or rather, they'll compete with each other. So, if your snow is patchy, it's because other particle devices in the area are consuming your default max viewing capacity of 4,096 particles.

Along the same lines, don't use it's "single" texture to produce a lot of snow. To get a lot of snow, use the "cluster" texture which will give you more snowflakes per particle. If the effect that you want is a lot of snow, the "cluster" texture is a more efficient way of doing this.

Best Snowmaker Out There

I have to agree with the other reviewers. I've bought many snow machines and none of them work as well as this one. You get a lot of coverage per orb and the snow looks very natural when falling, mostly because it starts above. And you have lots of options for what kind of snow you would like. It's expensive. But worth it. You'll never have to buy another snowmaker.

This is the defacto best snowmaker in SL. The reference product.
The maker is also very fast in customersupport. Highly recommended.
