Welcome to the "reduced friction world" of SL sledding!
I am totally in awe of intrepid Lindens who invented SL physics and scripting. Sledding may be ultimate realm for experiencing joy of SL movement with low friction wide open freedom.
So I had a great deal of fun scripting for this little sled and testing it out again and again on snowy mountains and frozen lakes in mainland winter regions.
Sleds are supposed to be slippery to move with a minimum of friction. So have fun being surprised by how this sled moves. It has three levels of "push force" so you can get yourself up sides of hills and mountains in mainland winter regions. When you have reached a spot you like, turn sled in downhill direction and let sled find its path of least resistance to reach bottom of hill. If you are slowed by a spot of flat terrain then give forward arrow a tap or two but for most part sled can find its own way on downward slopes.
Here is LM for a very attractive area in the middle of mainland winter regions (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Zermatt/22/94/83).
Rez sled at your own place or at one of very many rez zones in the vast area mainland winter regions.
When you sit selection pie chart says "Hold On" for sitting and you better believe it!
Use forward movement arrow to give yourself a "push." "Push force one" is quite versatile, but there are also force levels two and three if you need to get to top of a really steep slope or mountain. Then hold on and steer when you turn downhill!
You will hear sound of sled runners moving on snow in super realistic way that adds excitement. At very slow speeds you slide around without stirring up snow, but once your speed picks up you will see two trails of snow behind sled.
There is also a reverse push force (back motion arrow) if you need to escape from a larger shrub or ravine or somewhere awkward.
I made looped animation when you sit on sled. You will see yourself look around a bit, lean forward a little then back, and your hands shift a little on brake handles.
There is little spotlight on front that uses SL advanced lighting. Say "on" or "off" in chat or /2 private chat to turn in on or off. Great for night time sledding runs!
Sled is small (Length is 1.4, Width is 0.8, and Height is 0.33), but you can easily make it smaller or larger by touching the black brake handles to get rescale menu on your screen. You can also easily adjust your sitting position using standard AVsitter menu. This is an all mesh item with land weight of 6. It is sold as copy only.
To make this even more enjoyable you can use chat commands to select four different views while you sled. Use open chat or /2 private chat.
"v1" is nice follower view a few meters behind sled.
"v2" is low behind sledder so you see yourself holding brake handles and also terrain ahead of you.
"v3" is your low angle view just above your knees. This one is quite a thrill.
"v4" is view from behind and above sled giving you a graceful follower view showing your larger surroundings as you move about the slopes.
So now, your mission is to push yourself on sled to top of a high mountain. Then turn in downhill direction and take your fingers OFF your keyboard!. Let sled take you down mountain as it finds and follows path of least resistance that terrain allows you. Steer if there is sudden tree or boulder in your way of course.
There is a vast trail network all over the mainland winter regions. Look for downhill snow trails on mini map when you do this. These trails lead all over mainland winter regions. There are many rez zones scattered around and you can see them on your viewer mini-map.
When sledding I always turn off SL music so I don't get those highly annoying on screen music notices. I also turn up my sound level a bit to enhance sound of sled as it moves on snow. And I absolutely enjoy view "v3" when going downhill.
Have fun with this sled, it just might be one of most enjoyable items you can find in SL.
Thus far I have made only one color scheme for this Holiday Sled. Colors stand out against snowy terrain and give a festive holiday spirit. If you are desperate for a pink one just message me. And, if there are additional features you would enjoy just message me, I am always happy to update with new features.
xoxo and stay safe!
