Definitely gorgeous, but could be better.
I just picked this up, and it is indeed a beautiful piece of furniture for such low prim count. Really, a stunning sculpt. The poses all look great, and are sized wonderfully for the furniture, easy to line up the chair and table by sitting and posing in the chair, then moving it. Texture wise, it's lovely, and the included texture to make your own art to put on the table was easy to use.Just throw it into any program that includes layers, set the provided texture to 'multiply' and then draw on a second layer underneath it.
I do have some qualms with it, and it would be lovely to have an updated version with a few more features, perhaps for a slightly higher price. The lamp does not emit light, and does not have a switch to turn on or off- I used edit link to select just the lamp and told it to emit light on my own, which works fairly well. I wish it would provide a pen or pencil to hold when using the drawing pose. I also wish there were a drawing animation, rather then a static pose, that would really bring the whole thing together for sure.
Overall, as it is I'd highly recommend this, both because it is beautiful and functional. And for the price, the sculpt is absolutely wonderful and well worth it. If you're weird like me, and like to idle in SL while doing real life stuff (like actually drawing), then this drafting table is definitely for you!
Beautiful but incomplete
The textures is amazing and the LI thing is just right. And the price is good. I have however 2 complaints.
1. There is no pen or pencil for the drawing pose.
2. I wish there is a light off and light on for the lamp.
Therefore I see it as incomplete.
I Love This Drafting Table :D
This is just what I was looking for and saved me the time and bother of building one myself. As the other reviewers say the prim footprint is surprisingly small, given the complexity of the build. I love that you can customise the roll of paper on the table with an image or images of your own. I like to have pictures of what I'm currently creating. The LOD is very stable as are the textures. I have this table in my design studio where it really looks the business. Very well done Standby Inc! :D x

Stunning Table but Enormous Texture Sizes
Standby has created a truly stunning table and chair with an impressively low prim count and good LOD optimization.
Buyers, however, should be warned that every single texture used, even the textures on the tiny markers and rolls of paper, is a unique 1024x1024 texture. There are six unique 1024x1024 textures total in the chair and table combined meaning this single asset consumes approximately 18 or 24 mb of texture memory. Many of the textures could have easily been substituted for 512x512 or lower textures without diminishing the quality of Standby's incredible product.
