== Subspace Anomaly == ** Restrained Life Required For Complete Functionality **
A gravitational anomaly opens a wormhole into subspace; those who get too close may become trapped inside! A unique kind of "cage" that keeps its victims in isolation, unable to even tell where they are, or talk to anyone not right next to the mouth of the wormhole. Features capture and free from menu, or set a strong gravitational field for auto-capture. For use with the Restrained Life Viewer.
By default, victims cannot:
- See their location (menubar displays "Hidden"), the world map, or the minimap
- Teleport out
- Rez or edit items
- Communicate via IM or "passing notes"
- Fly
- Since the interior of the subspace pocket is black and featureless, they may even wonder if they're blind!
This item comes with three parts, all of which must be rezzed inside one Second Life region (sim) to work. Setup is as follows:
First, rez the item named "Subspace Pocket" somewhere in the sim. This is the "interior" of the subspace anomaly, the pocket in which the victims become trapped. It can be placed anywhere, but I would suggest some place remote and unlikely to be stumbled upon. For example, I have mine located at 4000m altitude. The easiest thing to do would be to pick some spot on your land you can it to be located over, rez it on the ground there, then bring up the Edit menu, click More if there, select the Object tab, and type "4000" into the Position Z box. Note: the pocket is 32m across on the outside but only 20m across on the inside (it has nice, thick walls).
Next, rez the item named "Subspace Anomaly". Doesn't matter where you rez it, as long as it's over your land. You won't see it since it's invisible (unless you have Show Transparent on), but you don't need to, there's no need to edit or place this precisely. It moves about during use anyhow, it just needs to be rezzed somewhere.
Finally, rez the item named "<Subspace Anomaly>" where you want the entrance to your anomaly to be. This is the "outside" of the subspace anomaly, the mouth of the wormhole. It's also what you click on to bring up the capture and settings menus. Also, anything spoken within 10m of the wormhole will be heard by the people inside, and anything spoken by the people inside the subspace pocket can be heard if you're standing within 10m of the mouth. Note this is true regardless of volume -- even things shouted by someone in the pocket are inaudible beyond 10m from the mouth. (The reverse isn't true; things shouted within 100m of the mouth can be heard by the victims in the pocket. Sound falls into the anomaly more easily than it escapes from it.)
While trapped inside the subspace pocket, Restrained Life Viewer users with an active relay will find themselves unable to TP out, unable to communicate remotely (IMs cannot reach or escape from the pocket), and unable to even see where they are (the menu bar will say "(Hidden)" where it normally says the location, and they will be unable to view the world map or the minimap). For practical purposes, they're now in their own little pocket universe. A very sparse, featureless universe by default. With no way out.
For those not trapped inside, clicking on the mouth of the wormhole will bring up a menu with the following options:
* Capture...
This command can be used to attempt to capture a nearby person, pulling them into the anomaly. This will only succeed if they are using the Restrained Life Viewer and a relay.
* Free...
This command gives you a list of the people inside the subspace pocket, and allows you to pull them back into our universe.
* Gravity...
If set, gravity will automatically tug at anyone who comes within the specified range (up to 20m), capturing anyone vulnerable within the anomaly.
* Access
This command is only available to the owner of the anomaly. Use it to set who can access the other commands on the anomaly. Can be set to allow anyone, only group members, or only the owner. When an authorized person touches the mouth of the wormhole, it brings up the menu. When someone who isn't authorized touches the wormhole, they may be sucked in...
One other option: even if you aren't using Restrained Life, you can enter the subspace pocket by right-clicking on the mouth and "sitting" on it. Of course, without Restrained Life, you won't actually be trapped inside, although you'll have to TP out -- subspace pockets have no doors.
One final note for advanced users:
If you right click on the Subspace Pocket and check the contents, you'll see a couple of notecards. One is labeled "default", inside it are the default Restrained Life Viewer commands sent to newly arrived victims. You can add or remove restrictions here if you know what you're doing. The second line of the notecard is what is said when a new victim arrives. If it starts with a "*", it's said using the name of the victim, so "*/me arrives in the
