A rare Swedish Antique Rug. Sourced from my comprehensive catalogues of current and past auction items.
While the design and effect of this lovely Swedish rug appear initially to be so modern in spirit, the open field with a crenellated pattern at the sides comes from antique Anatolian kilims or from earlier Swedish rugs and textiles that imitated such precursors. In any case the rug is a classic example of Scandinavian Modern design, outstanding in its use of simple form a superior colour.
Please note the original dimensions of this rug. Although supplied as modifiable, over stretching may distort the pattern. Also note that as a representation of a handmade product it may have less than perfect linage. This part of the beauty of such a rug.
