Koi-Mer are wise and long living aquatic creatures, dwelling only in fresh water, they are often found in rivers, lakes, springs and large ponds. Koi-Mer are symbols of good fortune be it wealth or luck and are seen as highly prized creatures! Because of this Koi-Mer make themselves scarce and hard to find, often hiding among the lily pads and reeds, or in deeper murky depths. Do not be fooled by this "coy" mer, tho they play hide and seek, Koi-Mer are very energetic, able to make high jumps, and even swim through strong water currents, and are also thought to have the ability to swim up waterfalls. These slippery mer are masters of escape and elusive deception, with their bright colors and exotic beauty they will allure and distract you as they make plans of escape. Koi-Mer make their homes in fresh water caves and underground rivers, building into the rocks, and earth. Entrances to such places can be found hidden in deep areas along rivers, lakes, ponds, and springs. Like most mer, Koi-Mer speak the language native to the area they dewl, and possibly communicate with their local wildlife as well.
Koi-Mer live on a mostly plant based diet tho have been known to eat other forms of food as well.
Koi-Mer are known to be very beautiful dancers putting on great displays of leaps and spins, they are not known to be singers like their other mer counterparts tho some Koi-Mer have been found to in fact be wonderful singers and rarer still are the ones who carry a sirens gift of song tho don't put it past them.
