Simply the Best
full star full star full star full star full star Posted February 10, 2014 by Haze Lancaster

I have read tarot for years IRL, in RPs and just casually with friends on SL. I have even made my own tarot deck with a simple random texture changing script, which also spits out the name of the card and if it is reversed or not. When it came to finding one on the market place, I had very high expectations and searched through lots of different tarot decks. Some flashy, some primmy, some with built in tables and lighting and seating and animations and a dozen other bells and whistles. But I was just not satisfied with any of them.

Sometimes, simple is the better and this is the perfect example. I initially felt like the price was steep, and the Rider Waite deck, I've never really been attached to. But after opening this package and trying it out, I began to realize, that this was the perfect deck.

It is simple. A mesh that only has a 2 prim land impact, no flashy table or effects or whatever, and for that alone you cannot beat it. But there is more, this deck has all the traditional spreads, a simple and easy to use menu. It has an option to tell you the meanings and direct you to a very good website with further references. While I prefer to have a book of meanings and reversals at my side as reference, this deck is actually a very good learning instrument for those just starting to do their own tarot readings, or that know nothing about tarot.

This deck has earned a place center piece on my dinning table in my SL home and was worth every linden.

Improvements - If I could make a suggestion, a completely silent mode might be a good update. An option just to turn off all text if you wanted to look it up yourself instead of it telling you the name of the card. Maybe add a little sound when you click on it, a soft sound of a card being flipped or placed, or even shuffled. I would love to see more card decks in the future of different sets. My favorite happens to be the tarot of the white cats.
