Any items "lost" while opening, are an issue between you and Linden Labs. First try relogging. If that fails, try clearing inventory cache (Avatar>Preferences>Network & Files> Directories>Clear Inventory Cache) and relog. If that fails, please file a ticket with Linden Labs to restore lost inventory.
