ABOUT THE LOCKABLE DOOR SYSTEM (LDS)

The Lockable Door System is a system that allows you to place an UNLIMITED number of doors (either standard doors or teleporting doors) that can be locked and unlocked by people on a whitelist, as long as they are wearing the Key HUD (included in this package).

The Key HUD allows people to configure doors from anywhere within the region, as long as they are whitelisted in the control panel.

If a door is locked, and a visitor tries to open it, a dialog is displayed to the people on the whitelist (we'll call them "owners" for now) notifiying them that so-and-so is requesting entry, after which owners can allow or deny their request.

Every object in this package comes with a config notecard in its contents for you to configure options for that object.

DOOR TYPES

There are two types of doors: standalone doors, and teleport doors.

STANDALONE DOORS work as expected: when they are unlocked, the door rotates on its hinge to open and close.

TELEPORT DOORS come in pairs: an inside door and an outside door. When placed, they allow you to teleport between one another. Inside doors MUST be paired with outside doors, and vice versa.

It is important to note that teleport doors are locked from the inside. So people on the inside can still leave through the door, even if it's locked.

HOW REQUESTS ARE PROCESSED

When a visitor requests entry, ALL OWNERS who are in the region (and not away) must allow entry in order for a visitor to be let in.

If the dialog times out before all the owners respond, the system decides entry as follows:

1. If all of the owners who DID respond elected to ALLOW the visitor in, the system follows suit.

2. If no one responds to the request, the system DENIES the visitor entry.

PACKAGE CONTENTS

This package comes with a control panel, a standard door, a set of teleporting doors, and a key HUD.

Each door has 4 land impact, and the control panel has 1 land impact. So one set of teleport doors, one standalone door, and a control panel has a total of 13 land impact.

All of these items except the key HUD are COPY/MOD. The key HUD is COPY/MOD/TRANSFER.

None of the scripts are modifiable.

IMPORTANT CAVEATS

1. The control panel MUST be present in the same region as all the doors in order for the doors to function.

2. You MUST be wearing the Key HUD in order to receive dialogs from doors. Dialogs that appear after touching the control panel are still visible without the Key HUD.

3. In order to use the teleport doors, the land you are in MUST allow the Brandera Goods experience. You either need to allow the experience in your own land or ask the land owner to add the experience.

4. Doors MUST be renamed in order to behave properly: Teleport door pairs MUST share the same name in order to function. Each standalone door and each set of teleport doors MUST have a unique name. Door names cannot be longer than 24 characters, and they cannot be blank.

5. When modifying standalone doors, the rotating prim and the door frame MUST remain in the same linkset, and CANNOT be linked with other standalone doors. The doors WILL NOT FUNCTION otherwise.

6. If the root prim of the linkset a standalone door is in changes, you may need to edit the "Rotation Axis" setting in the #STANDALONE DOOR CONFIG in the contents of that door. Otherwise, the door might not rotate on its hinge.

PRIORITY KNOWN BUGS

1. Having multiple control panels in the same region can cause major issues and heavy lag for the control panel, even if they don't share any whitelisted parcels.

PLANNED FUTURE UPDATES

1. I will make it so that you don't need to go into the #STANDALONE DOOR CONFIG and change the axis the door rotates on if you link the door with other objects.
