The Pedlar's OS Window System - Residential Version
WINDOW SYSTEM
Pedlars windows are designed for ease of use and installation. After the set up, Just touch the Control Panel to get a menu, select WINDOWS which then offers the options "open, shaded, closed and one-way". The window system can do a lot more than that though. For example you might wish to use different textures, colors (tint) or transparencies (alpha). One of the advantages of this is to have the window frame as part of the texture, which would save on prims while adding design features.
These windows allow you to designate more than one face for inside and/or outside windows. This is especially handy for Mesh objects. Just separate the face numbers with commas (eg. 1,3) , the remaining faces will stay the same color etc that you set them up with.
All Scripts are copy only. Bonus Mesh Windows are copy/mod. Bonus textures are full perm (Terms & Conditions).
You can control an access list and even lock the windows via the control panel.
FACES
One of the first things you will need to know is which faces the windows going to be on the window prim. To find this out just touch the control panel, and on the menu select OPTIONS; FACES.
WINDOW TEXTURES
The windows parameters (including window textures) are controlled by the setting notecard/s in your windows.
To change the textures on the windows I recommend using the UUID key of the textures in the setting notecard. This way you do not have to store all of the textures in the windows and as long as you include the textures in the contents inventory of your product (to make sure the textures are always available on the servers), the windows will always be able to find the textures on the Second Life Servers, by just having the UUID key.
You can also place textures in each window (not in the control panel) and use the name of the texture in the settings notecards. Whichever you find suits you.
TRANSPARENCY / ALPHA
Inside the window in the Settings notecards you can set the transparency for each of the window faces in each state. If your texture is already transparent, you usually won't need to adjust this.
COLOR / TINT
You can set the color of the faces. This is good if you don't want to use a texture. Or if the texture needs tweaking. We have installed a tool in the Window Plugin that will identify the color you have made the window. To access this on the menu, select OPTIONS; WINDOW COLOR.. When you touch the window face the script will tell you in the chat log what the vector of that color is so that you can put it into the window notecards. It will look something like this - <1.00000, 1.00000, 1.00000>. Cut and paste that vector into your settings card/s.
These windows can be used as a stand alone product, however they are an integrated part of the Pedlar's Operating System (released very soon), which includes doors, lights, textures (walls etc) and more. The windows are essentially one of the plugins to this home/building operating system. If you purchase these windows or doors and decide to buy the full system I will give you a discount up to the value of the plugins you have purchased.
