at the beginning of the lane is an invisible prim you can click to sit or right click and choose sit
-to set the thrust hold down the mouse button (the % will be projected in front of you ) release at the right moment to slide

The progress bar of your slide trajectory moves too fast
You go from 0 to 100 over and over when you hold down the left mouse button so quickly that you can't actually stop at the speed you want. It's a roulette wheel and you get 0-20% speed most turns. This is so frustrating it sucks all the fun out of it.
