Treehouse Bastos & Betula

I have lived in this magical, isolated forest for 15 years, building, or finding, my cottages. And I thought I knew all of its secrets . . . until the day I was told the legend of 'Bastos & Betula'.

Long, long ago this land was just rocks and boulders. Nothing lived here.
And then one day two small people arrived, and they had a very special job to do. They had been journeying for weeks and were tired and needed to rest, but before they went to sleep that first night they planted two seeds.
Of course the seeds were enchanted! So that next morning, when the little people awoke, they found two huge trees had grown.
They made these trees their home - a wonderful, whimsical, treehouse. With cosy little rooms set amongst the roots, a winding staircase that opened into a room with windows front and back. There was a wooden ramp that climbed around one of the trees leading up to a platform set high amongst the leafy branches.
And best of all ...a magical turret room with a toadstool roof and windows on all sides.

Every day for months they went out onto the barren land and planted seeds. When their work was finally done they had created an entire forest. But it was now time to leave, to journey on with their seeds and plant more magical trees.
They wanted to leave a little of themselves in the home they had grown to love, so before they left they carved their names - Bastos.& Betula

And now I have built a treehouse too, so that anyone who lives in it can be the guardian of their own special place in the world.
