A game table after the designs of David Roentgen.
Of a very avant-garde design, this rectangular table is veneered in mahogany with legs and frieze protected with gilt bronze mounts in a very advanced neoclassical style.
The top, with a checked marquetry plaque in contrasting woods, could be used to play chess. Lifting it up, one discovers inside a table for playing tric-trac, an ancient precursor of backgammon and a very popular pastime among the upper classes during the ancient regime.

A very nice game table.
I placed backgammon and checkers games on it, and it turned out great. When you open the lid, you can see the games. It's a real eye-catcher.
