The Turkey "Ride" is a wearable rigged attachement so you wear it. It only works when worn. It is NOT a rez and ride device.
The Turkey legs will do whatever animation your avatar is running. You use the enclosed alpha layer to make your legs transparent, or you use your mesh avatar HUD for Maitreya, Kemono, etc. to make your lower parts invisible.
You only need to wear it for it to work. You can attach it to any available point because it is a rigged mesh object.
