US Asheville (PGM-84/PG-84) was an Asheville-class gunboat acquired by the U.S. Navy for the task of high speed patrolling in shallow waterways.
The third ship to be named Asheville by the Navy, PGM-84 was laid down on 15 April 1964 at Tacoma, Washington, by the Tacoma Boatbuilding Co.; launched on 1 May 1965
I designed the Asheville as patrol gun boat and as submarine hunter as well
I thought it makes more fun to drop depth charges and sink ICS scripted submarines:)
The ship is ICS scripted and ist about 50 m Long
The Asheville comes with
- cannon , controlled by menu
- depht charges ( two racks)
- 2 machine guns with access to everybody
- missles (not controlable you have to aim with ship)
- dighy rezzer
- rezzer for ladder to enter ship from dinghy
-two rezzer in crew room
one for seats and one for dishes, bottles on table
- life jacket giver
many crew member poses all over the ship
lights are switchable separately
the ship is comletely walkable and all ladders are climbable
if you get sunk by too many hits the ship will rezz a life raft for you
(by sailing the LI will increase up to 460 prim !)
See item in Second Life- drivable ship
- working cannon
- working depht charges
- missles
Best military ship in SL!! XD
It was shocking when I first looked at this modeler's ship in-world.
Interior is nicely made and can explore inside the ship is great fun.
It reminded me of 1/1 IJN Yamato SIM display made by Kuroe and Masakado.
Just smaller (50m) and you don't need to rent hole SIM. :)
Mesh enabled high prim builds movable though too big for ICS combat use.
Only 149 Land Impact when static, became my new home for roleplay!
Definitely NOT worth the asking price.
This ship has some good detail on it, I will give it that. The model is fantastic and the creator definitely has a talent for building, however everything else about it is terrible.
•The sounds are absolutely HORRID. They sound like they belong in a griefing tool of some sort. Every time you perform an action on the boat such as TURNING or CHANGING SPEED your ears are assaulted with an ungodly screech like sound that I really cant describe. That is the worst part in my opinion. Any vehicle with an atrocious or mismatching sound will ruin it for me.
•There is NO HUD with the vehicle at all. All you get is the rezzable boat and that is it.
I guess im just used to being spoiled with a HUD to control all of the features on my vehicles but the description didn't say it came with one so I cant hold it against the maker. However to access the menu you have to click various parts of the boat which makes the boat freeze for a moment. Which can get incredibly annoying if you are moving.
•Sailing the boat around is not the best either.
It works and it will get to its destination but its not realistic at all. I'm used to high quality boats that tilt to the side and such. Boats that cost probably equal or half the amount of this boat here, and they all handle like a dream. But this thing just feels like a hoverboard of some sorts. It never sways and its Z axis seems to be locked. Also it only has 2 FORWARD SPEEDS. Full and Half. Definitely not enough, especially if you are roleplaying.
Id say a 500L price tag is fair for this thing. Not 2400L. Not until its scripting and sounds improve.
Nice ships great detail..Modern ships next
Love the detail of your ships and are so close to the real thing would like to see more modern ships soon like the America class LCS, Burke class DDGs, Ohio class Subs and the Typhoon class Patrol Craft.
best modern warship in SL
The level of detail, reliablity, all functional parts and high quality of the build make this iconic missile corvette the best warship found in the SL seas so far, in my opinion. I use it both for roleplay, thanks to the very detailed internal spaces, and for combat, thanks to the wide array of weapons, which include Harpoon missiles. The sensible size permits to use it in most sims. I recommend it to all who are into naval roleplay in SL.
Good detail and good mesh mesh, but...
Good detail and good mesh mesh, but does not have good navigation and is not editable. very simple menu only for lights and arms. the seats of the table not rez.
