The Antoinette (IV) flown in 1908 and 1909 was an early French monoplane that had unique advanced design elements in aviation. It was powered by a (at the time) powerful 50hp V8 engine, and a radical paddle bladed prop. Even though this model did not have great success, the models following it (except the V) set records for crossing the English channel, as well as setting a record for time aloft at 1 hour and 7 min. However in our mind this was one of the more beutiful and striking designs of the airplane, that capture that early pioneer aviator spirit.
So please enjoy our rendition of this early aircraft, that was also featured in the 1965 film "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines".
