ViaEmail is a versatile device responding to a wide range of email-based commands. Simply rez it, set the preferences in the enclosed notecard, and you're good to go.
As you might imagine, ViaEmail can also be used with cell phones or other mobile devices that have built-in email clients and wireless data connectivity. As long as the emails come directly from the address you set in the preferences, and go directly to the email the device will speak to you when you rez it, your commands will be received and executed.
It's like being logged into SL from anywhere, at any time!
Below is a list of the commands you will be able to execute remotely with ViaEmail by sending them to the address it specifies:
settext - Sets the floating text above your ViaEmail device to the body of the email.
nearby - Tells ViaEmail to send you an email with the names of any avatars within m of it ("range" can be set in the preferences notecard). This also tells you how far away each avatar is.
say - ViaEmail device says the body of the email on channel 0.
shout - ViaEmail device shouts the body of the email on channel 0.
chaton - Turns on fowarding of messages from channel 0 to your email address.
chatoff - Turns off forwarding of messages from channel 0 to your email address.
help - ViaEmail device sends you an email with usage instructions.
You can send the nearby, chaton, chatoff, and help commands to ViaEmail in SL on channel 33 (put a /33 before the command) if you are within chat range of your ViaEmail device.
Update: ViaEmail is now version 1.6 with improved stability and added features. If you have purchased an earlier version and wish to upgrade, IM me and I will send you the new version free.
Very Cool. Worked straight away and really low price.
For the price this device can't be beat. I haven't got the IM features to work yet, but for what this cost its ok even if I never get them to work. Everything else seems to be working flawlessly.
