This is the traditional refractor telescope, designed with objective lens and eyepiece. Unlike the modern astronomical telescope, these are designed in a more ornate, Victorian look. The handsome leather wrapped tube assemblies feature brushed brass components. The pedestal mount is replaced with a traditional wood tripod with brass fixtures. Truely elegant scopes to show off in your study or home observatory. Both a german equatorial mount, and alt-azimuth mount versons are included. The equatorial mount is designed for serious astronomical work, the alt-azimuth makes for easy use for terrestrial viewing, making it perfect for the oceanfront home. The telescope has a script allowing you to move it on the celestial axis. Say "/7 Left" to slew it to the left, "/7 Right" to slew to the right. They use channel 7 to cut down on lag. This only works for the owner of the scope.
Because of the script, the pedestal mount is a separate object from the main scope and mount. When setting it up, make sure the two axis meet as shown on the picture. You should be in edit mode when taking the scopes out of inventory, so that the two objects can be moved and positioned as one. Once you leave edit mode, the scope will be a separate object from the tripod. If you do not understand being in edit mode when removing from inventory, please contact me for advice. Note: you may need to recompile the scripts for them to work after you purchase the scope. Simply click the item, go to "tools" in the upper menu bar, and choose "Recompile Scripts in Selection."
If you zoom your view inside the eyepiece, you can see changing astronomical views like Jupiter and the spiral galaxy.
45 prims for alt-azimuth mount, 49 prims for equatorial mount.
