This set is full of wooden guiding arrows, which could be easily textured with any text and asembled into complex lowprim guidepost. Can be used everywhere, where are needed some lowprim rustical guides. Eg. medieval, beach, waterfront, in forests.
You gotta have skills to create transparent textures with text in Photoshop or any capable editor. By the way, your texture with text not need to be transparent, but you will have to deal with fact, that it will not look that good, but it will work as good anyway.

Guidepost sign set contains 3 prefabbed guideposts (as seen on pictures):

- guidepost with small arrow signs
- guidepost with bigger arrow signs
- guidepost in right angle directions with built-in small arrow signs

Unlink signs and u can start work.
After unlink you got:
2 different left arrows
2 different right arrows
1 board sign
-----------------------------------------
1 prim = arrow + pole
2 prim = 3 arrows + pole
3 prim = 5 arrows + pole
5 prim = 8 arrows + pole

Guide to working with guides :) (you will find it in README file also)

WORKING WITH SIGN PRIMS (link and unlink guidepost)
Unlink preferable guidepost prefab, move, copy, whatever with wooden arrows and board. Once you are happy with result, LINK all signs together, BUT LAST SELECTED MUST BE THE POLE/BEAM. After you got signs linked, Open edit window in the EDIT > FEATURES tab. Select checkbox EDIT LINKED, and select all arrows or boards and set PHYSICS SHAPE TYPE to "None", then select the pole and set its PHYSICS SHAPE TYPE to "Prim". And done :) You dont need to do that, but this way it will give as low land impact(prims) as possible :)

TEXTURING ARROW SIGNS AND BOARD SIGNS
Each sign has sun side (slightly brighter) and shadow side. Even its not visible at first sight, theres hidden face on the sun side of signs. If you got clumsy hand, do not pull texture with text directly onto sign, or be sure that you dropping it in the middle of sign (you would screw wooden texture with text). You can also select checkbox in EDIT > SELECT FACE and select face on sign and then change texture of it.

I was happy with this size of document in Photoshop or any picture editor which can easily export transparent text PNG picture.

Open Photoshop > New transparent background file > 600x130 pixels and place big text into it, then save as PNG and upload into SL. Anyway I have used CHILLER font, which can be downloaded for free right here http://fontzone.net/font-details/Chiller/

See item in Second Life
  • Each arrow is 1 prim, but it contains two faces for texture
  • Just pull text texture in the middle of brighter side of arrow or sign
  • sign posts are made of aged wooden planks
  • COPY MOD, lowprim
  • texture fits with all my mesh items

I've tested several sign posts - this one is the easiest to setup i've seen. No downloading and editing odd mesh textures, just make a transparent text PNG and apply.

Oh btw, they look nice.

not sure how this doesnt have a review yet so i might as well.. these signs are exactly what i wanted! love them to bits
you just need to know how to make a transparent text texture (which i do) then you can just put them on the signs and rearrange the arrows or add them etc.. using them for my wedding for a ceremony / reception guide. its so perfect. woo!
