Ewer and Basin:

A jug with its matching basin used for washing hands, face, or feet first thing in the morning. Both are made of repoussé and chiseled silver, decorated with neoclassical motifs: gadroons, leaf garlands, scrolls, and a late Rococo lid finial shaped like foliage with berries.
An essential item in every noble chamber, this set was indispensable for morning ablutions when full baths were usually reserved for midday. Sponge baths were a quicker alternative.
