thank you for considering the WindCompass.
WindCompass is designed to hold many relevant sail info compact in one place.
As such there is heading (HDG), winddirection, windspeed, boatspeed, True Wind Angle (TWA),
Apparent Wind Angle (AWA), Velocity Made Good (VMG) and more...
● Beginners find a 'BASIC' button in 'Options', to set a much simpler layout.
● Based on AWA and boat performance, WindCompass shows the red "No go" zone and
other zones where the use of spinnaker, gennaker, winged jib and even hydrofoils are effective.
The TWA is shown by a black and the AWA by a yellow pointer.
● Is the boat equipped with an InfoHud, more parameters like Sail Angles, Sail
Ratio, Heel Angle, Waterdepth, Hike-, Keel-, Foil-, Dagger- or Rudderpositions can be displayed.
● Racers can get Racewind and also get the boat to aquire racewind by just a click. Cruisers set wind
by click on the compass or by gesture based shortcuts.BOSS and BWind systems are supported.
If Skipper and Crew using a WindCompass, the crews one can be synched with the skipper.
● The Smart Mode helps with automatic wind setting on Sit and other detection functions.
● A SLSA RaceTimer shows a countdown from the startline.
compatible to Lailas Startline, supports Multistarts and detects Trial and other modes
● The Boat AutoSelect function loads the correct settings, once you sit on a supported boat.
● A Stopwatch lets you keep track of your sailed times, for sailing or racing practice.
LAP and SPLIT time function are available as well.
● If applicable, a Sail Trim Display shows colors indicating the trim setting for your sails,
similar like the given Hud from the boat. For some boats the Sail Trim Display is clickable to raise and moor.
● Trim Hints - For most Bandit and TMS boats there are colored numbers on the outer ring helping to trim
the mainsail. These colored numbers suggest, what number to trim the mainsail to.
● The build-In Shouter shouts out things said in local chat or by a gesture.
For example shout "STARBOARD", "ROOM" etc. during busy races.
The Whisperer can be used for quiet tactical commands to your crew ("Spin Up", "Spin down" etc.)
● The NAV allows you to load, follow or delete a waypoint list (USB notecard), jump to a waypoint in that list,
go Next or Previous waypoint, loop or reverse a route, go to a target SLurl or simply type in the simname.
Marks are shown inworld as red beacon and a graphic pointer shows the bearing to target (BTT).
VMC (Velocity Made good on Course) and ETE (estimated time elapsed) to the next mark is also displayed.
● To help finding your last position after a crash, WindCompass can show your last position with a TP-link.
● Find Boat function: If the boat is equipped with a Text Info Hud or the Boat Finder, this pings the boat for its position.
● The 3 mode Camera Hud may help on boat camera issues after bad simcrossings or crowded race starts.
● Sail with sailors point of view! WindCompass keeps the directions in mouselook. No Calibration needed.
● You get Visual-, Chat- and Sound-feedback for nearly all functions.
● Change Appearance, Textcolor, Text position, Alpha, Size, Sound, Display, Behavior, Buttons and more...

This is a compass you cannot do without!
I've purchased this product twice before in the past. With every release it has gotten better and better. Kim and I spent the day out testing and tweaking the scripts and features and have emerged with a prime product, free of bugs and inconveniences. I heartily recommend this product as there is nothing else like it on SL. Thanks, Kim for spending the time with me so we can iron out the bugs. I don't doubt there may be some overlooked and I recommend users to use this product and if anything is noticed, inform Kim Farleigh.
That is an incredible help
I m new at sailing, and i needed something to understand better the winds, and how handle the sailboat.
Ok.... still sometimes i m stuck and the only way i found to go out is starting the motor (sometimes even without being in "the red zone", so it s still things i dont understand) But i m sure that hud will help me a lot.
I would to try some races, at least not really race, but doing the route with the same winds that was planned for a race, i hope it s possible do that if no races are planned at that place.
So, it is a very very useful HUD, and the connection with the boat (the Palain in my case) is a big plus too.
Fantastic Product
I am a new sailor, and the Windcompass Pro has really helped me to understand many of the sailing concepts I've read about and observed when sailing with others. I'm sure I will never need anything different. Thank you for this outstanding product!

I bought this for a totally different purpose than I use it for now, Lets just say I misunderstood what something meant... this hud is still totally useful to me though if only to change wind directions faster and easier without needing to type it in local. Well worth the money to me even though it doesn't do what I originally bought it for. Again that is not the creators issue it was mine for misunderstanding.
An enigma
I bought this device back in 2018 because users told me it was such an excellent device for sailors. Frankly, I was intimidated by the many buttons, numbers, text, icons etc. on this small HUD and put it to rest. Only recently, 4 years later I stumbled on it again and gave it a second try with an upgraded version. After a few days reading, testing, biting my tongue, finding my way in it, I must say its really an enigma. Its amazing to see how one can put so many features into such a small HUD. Its like a Swiss watch. Its impossible to really go into its dozens of features here, but my recommendation is, if you serious about sailing in SL, then get this miracle device. If you like me willing to spend a few days reading and testing, you will love it and wonder how you ever did without it.
