What I have NOT seen alot of are WEARABLE magic carpets. Carpet rides with gear shifts and cruise controls are great but you get a rez/ride vehicle tangled up in a ban line or smacked into the cosmos by a sweeping wave of lag and it just sort of blows the magic out the window, know what I mean? Causes magic carpet wedgies, too.

So we at the Wingsong Dojo set out to make our own WEARABLE magic carpet.

First, we got ahold of a really nice aubusson carpet. Mid 15th century. One small stain on it. I'm not telling you where it is - you'll NEVER find it - it's THAT small. The carpet dealer who sold it to us told us in all confidence it was the blood of a sultan. His wife laughed as she was putting away the laundry behind him and said no, it was ketchup, which their grandson had spilled on it a few weeks earlier.

We liked the sultan blood story best.

Next, we installed a hint of flexi in the carpet to give it a nice ripple. A good carpet ride should always ripple. One of our Mad Scientists at the dojo has a graduate degree in carpet ripple physics, so you know you've got a good ripple on this carpet.

We also embedded a great AO using several original Wingsong animations. These are not poses, but real animations, giving your magic carpet ride a very realistic feel. And I know magic carpet riding - I've been riding magic carpets since 1973!

Your Wingsong Magic Carpet WEAR, unlike most magic carpet rides, has two prims. That's right. You don't actually SIT on the carpet. It's attached to a very comfortable, soft PILLOW, which adds to stability and less wear and tear on your carpet, plus you don't have to worry about accidentally sitting on what may or may NOT be ancient sultan blood.

Out of respect for the principle of Truth in Advertising, I will tell you that the REAL reason we added the nice soft pillow (made with an original Wingsong sculpty, I should add), is - and I hesitate to announce this to the entire universe - but... here goes. I am allergic to wool.

There. Now you and a couple billion of your dearest friends know that my behind breaks out in a rash if I sit on wool.

The textures of the carpet and the seating pillow LOOK alot alike. But they are not. The blood or ketchup stained authentic 15th century aubusson that we paid a HUGE amount for is made with real Peruvian llama wool. We're not sure how the French artisans who weaved it over five hundred years ago got ahold of a llama from South America but such mysteries are the spice of life.

We bought the fabric for the pillow at a flea market for fifty cents a yard. It is 100 percent cotton, single ply 80 thread count. Uncombed. We washed it in a stream that empties into the Blake Sea, smacked it for fourteen days against a bunch of heavy rocks, and left it hanging on the line for three months to help it fade into an authentic look.

The pillow is stuffed with feathers from our Wingsong Baby Buzzard, Wingsong Rubber Duck, Wingsong Fizzle Fazzle Swan, and Wingsong Turkey. Also some fuzz collected from our Wingsong Dust Bunnies.

Naturally, you'll want to go sailing on your Wingsong Magic Carpet WEAR - so we installed a real nice little boat mode so that you can sail just a little ways above the surface of natural linden water. It kicks in automatically when you walk into the water, so no pesky buttons or levers to push to change modes!
