This skybox environment (a reproduction of Yosemite National Park in the USA) instantly makes your place part of a 3D panoramic environment. The amount of detail of the sculpted terrain is very high. It includes boulders and animated waterfalls.

In 2012 we released the first of a new generation of sim land level and skybox items. This item is part of this new set. There are three versions available:

Properties:

• Change the surface textures of all landscape parts (254 textures available in the HUD), and you can even use your own textures
• Switch to a different landscape scene or season
• De-rez landscape sections (for instance if you want to leave out the rivers or waterfalls) and rez them again later
• Allow others to change the scene and surface textures
• Copy-permissions
• Advanced menu to enable the unscripted sit and multiple sit function (find more information below under Mega Prims). WARNING: using this feature in some cases causes spikes of lag. Try a demo first to be sure
• Advanced menu can also be used to rez a solid prim just below the landscape surface. Touch this prim to make it invisible.
• Remove redundant scripts to decrease script load on sim

You can read the User Manual here:
http://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86Ma9OH0IR4c2xtWDRmYUx2YnM

Other characteristics are:

• A script takes the landscape to the best position on your piece of land. It snaps to the closest multiple of 32 for the x and y coordinate, which means it will automatically go to the exact center of your 64x64m parcel if you drop it close to the middle of it. You can rotate and move it afterwards like any other object in SecondLife. Do not drop it too close to the edge of the sim, it may go off-world and end up in your Lost and Found folder!
• Its size is 64x64m. A region measures 256x256m, which means it is exactly 1/16th of a region’s size, and exactly as large as the common 4096 m2 square parcels.
• You can combine this landscape with all kinds of other landscape elements, like trees and rock structures.
• Matching terrain textures for your land or for other landscape items are available in the in-world store.

To your viewer this landscape is a set of sculpted prims with textures. Technically there is not much difference from, for example, a detailed set of furniture. There are no particle systems in this item. The surface and sculpt textures take some time to load, but after that they cause no lag and do not obstruct your movements.

Mega prims

This landscape item is made of big prims or mega prims. There is one known issue that applies to skybox environments:
• Unscripted sit and multi-sit do not work inside big prims. This edition offers an option to prevent this. Try with the demo to see if this is a problem for you. Read this for technical information: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3811
