Musubi Yanagi is a traditional arrangement that hangs in the upper rear corner of the Tokonoma during Hatsugama, a celebration for the first tea of the year. Willow branches are gathered into a fresh green bamboo container and are allowed drape down within alcove. One branch is made into a single loop, symbolizing the move into spring and return from yin to yang. The willow itself also represents longevity and flexibility. The longer the branches can be, the better.
Please enjoy celebrating the new year
