BACK STORY:

"He situated himself close by the crackling fire, the glow casting a soft shadow just below the brim of his hat and obscuring his face. Clayton wasn't much for words, though his presence alone could speak volumes. He tried lighting up a smoke, and in the brief moment during the flashes, I could catch a glimpse of the eyes beneath that rugged hat."
