Add the hud and click it. This will program the internal sails to always be 80% opaque./transparent.
Tested again as of July 15 2024.
You must attach the hud to yourself and it will appear on the screen. Your boat also needs to be rezzed closeby. Once you click the hud, raise (or lower and raise again) your sails and the new texture will gradually appear, the time depends on the quality of your connection and equipment and what viewer you use. Tested in firestorm 7.1.9 (74745)

I had the same problem with the hud. You need to click the hud before you raise the sails.....then it works fine.
Did not change the sails to transparent
This hud didn't change the sails for me. I tried it with the sails up sails down. With my avatar in the boat and outside the boat. Does not come with instructions. Very expensive and for me it did not change the sails.
