<ZSK> P-40E Paint - #58 winter camo (boxed)
This is a set of paints inspired by a P-40C used by the Sovier fighter ace Alexei Khlobystov. They're not an exact replica, as I didn't do very well finding real source photos. Instead I've tried to keep reasonably faithful to the various liveries I've found of the plane in question on modelling and livery websites.
This particular plane saw action in 1942 as best as I can tell, and even survived being used to ram two other planes. There are some remarkable photos with the plane in the background, with a very large chunk of wing missing.
I won't waffle on here, you can find out more about him if your interest has been piqued. Here's a good place to start:- http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/soviet_khlobystov.htm
There are 4 variations in this set, comprising fresh whitewash and worn whitewash over 2 camo variants. One camo variant is plain old green/brown while the other is green/brown with a dark patch painted around the cockpit. I don't know if the dark patch is a realistic feature, I saw it on several model pictures and thought it looked smart.
The paint is applied in the normal ZSK kittyhawk way, rez the relevant paint pot next to the plane and click it. It has custom specular maps that stop the various markings from shining. You can also adjust the environment/glossy settings in the advanced materials menu to get the rest of the plane shining just how you like it.
Note that the plane is not included, this is a paint pot to use on the ZSK kittyhawk that you must already own.
See item in Second Life- uses the standard ZSK applier system, no muss, no fuss
- textures themselves not supplied (they don't need to be)
- custom specular maps
