Wear the HUD.
Click on the button "choose someone" and then select someone to walk with.
The person you choose is leading (but only you have to wear the HUD), and you are walking beside. You can choose near or far.
When the person you choose is stopping, you become free to walk around.
When he (or she) moves again, you walk beside again.
You can start or stop the Walk Together using the start/stop button
Works on "no script" land, but you have to wear it before.
Possible Problem :

When your companion is turning around suddendly, you may walk back to front during some seconds. Then use the arrows to turn yourself.

I bought 2 hud for me and my girlfriend and I never received both

Works Great
I was really impressed with the simplicity and effectiveness of this walk together HUD- it makes life so easy when two go together to explore.
My only adverse comment is that I find the following partner doe not stop as quick as the leader so you always seem to walk a couple more places after stopping. But this is soon made up when you start again.
Also the HUD seems a little large, but at the time of writing I haven't yet tried to resized it down - yet
