This is a set of 3 summer-themed maezashi (small, decorative hairpins) for use in Japanese hairstyles.
These small, decorative hairpins are worn by both geiko and maiko. Some feature traditional seasonal motifs (these ones are for summer) while others are more general.
Geiko wear theirs on the left side of their wig in front of their comb. Maiko do the same when off duty, but when dressed up, their maezashi is moved to the right side, above and just behind the ougi bira kanzashi.
Any women can use these hairpins, however.
