NEW ! 2026 v4 Release : ALTERNATION !

An Alternation is a finalized set-up involving 2 scenes that take turn in emitting light.
It allows to gradually change the lighting of a setting, as one scene fades-out while the other fades-in.
Note Alternation has limitations (see Caveat below)

The ILLuminate lighting system is a versatile tool to create lighting set-ups.
Useful for photographers to light their models and scenes, builders to add lights to their creations, sim owners to automate lights at the region, and residents setting up lights in their home or around their avatar.
The system is also especially useful for day vs night lighting when using interior PBR Reflection Probes.

All aspects are controlled directly from the Hud. There is no need to go into Edit mode.
The Hud can control up to 15 lights at the same time, per single light, or with several lights operated together.
Once a set-up is done it can be Finalized, linked to a build and operated independently.

Two types of lights, projectors casting light (and shadows) in a single direction, and pointlights for overall ambient lightning.
Land Impact : 1 per light.

Features :

• MOVEMENT
Use the Hud's touchpad to move and rotate lights. Set movement speed. Undo a move. Call lights to come to your location.

• ATTRIBUTE SETTINGS
Change fluidly in small or larger steps, reset to default, undo-redo steps in changes history.
Color - texture - intensity - radius - falloff - field of view - focus - ambiance - glow

• LIBRARY
Save presets, set defaults. Use color picker to select and save colors. Load and save projector textures. Organize in sets.

• BEACON
An avatar or an object, the central working point for the lights. Rez lights directly at the Beacon's location, adjust distance.

• FOCUS MODE
Let projectors automatically aim at their Beacon, they will adjust and keep the aim when they are repositioned.
This aim is vertically specific, set focus on your model's head, it will keep its focus on the head no matter where you move it.
Let projectors continuous follow the movements of their Beacon, like spotlights on a stage.

• ANCHOR
Store the relative positions of lights to their Beacon. Reposition them with ease around other Beacons and/or at other locations.
(if the Beacon is an avatar a minor deviation in rotation is possible)

• DISCONNECT
Lights can be temporarily disconnected from the Hud. Basic operations are still possible by menu upon touch. Reconnect them when desired.

• SCENES
A group of lights operating under a common name. Work on different projects : create Scenes, disconnect and reconnect the complete Scenes.

• FORMATIONS
Store different settings for the lights of a Scene. The complete Scene lighting can then simply be changed by selecting the wanted Formation.

• FINALIZE
A finished set-up becomes independent, preserving Scene and Formations. Link them to a build, operated by Control Unit and Switches.

• CLOCK
Set a parcel or region clock for Finalized Scenes to automatically activate Formations at given times.

• DROPSHAPES
Transfer light configurations to specific shapes. The shapes will emit light as set-up by the Hud. You can create and use your own lamp shapes.
Several Legacy and PBR options to texture the lamp surface.

• ALTERNATION
Finalized set-up where 2 Scenes take turn in emitting light. Set Duration time for each Formation to be active. Set transition times to gradually change the lighting.

ALTERNATION CAVEAT :
The Alternation section is a more complex part of the ILLuminate system. It has several limits, some by nature, some to prevent possible impact on a region's performance.
An Alternation may not run fluid with more intense set-ups at already busy regions.
The Alternation system can not be used commercially.

USER LICENSE

You are allowed to :
- Create light set-ups and distribute them with COPY OR TRANSFER permissions.

You are not allowed to ;
- Distribute any set-up as a freebie or dollarbie.
- Distribute the light, dropshape, control unit, and switch objects as they are. They must be part of a ZimberLab ILLuminate light set-up creation.

really impressive

A really powerful product and all I will need for my building and street lighting needs in SL. Dr. Zimberman has youtube videos to explain how this light system works - I really recommend watching them first. I will be using these lights to light up my ballroom, beer garden and infinity pool. loads of fun!
