These freckles work using the SMB skin applier. Instructions are included. Three varieties of freckles included: subtle, pale, and dark. Matching face tattoos also included.
Easy to apply, but if you are unsure, try the demo (it is for SMB body tights, but works using the same principle). I'm happy to help out, but I'm not responsible if you accidentally overwrite your main skin and can't get it back.

Until the SMB body is tattoo/clothing layer enabled, this is a spectacularly clever work-around!
You essentially make a copy of your body, take off the original body and wear the copy, click the applier, and watch as your body seems to go invisible. Then, you put back on your main body and marvel at the sprinkling of freckles, like a dusting of cinnamon! Yes, it means you have to wear 2 copies of your SMB body, but for those of us pining for freckles, it's a fine compromise.
Follow the included directions carefully and I bet you'll be as thrilled with the results as I am.
