kisetsu - Tsumami Kanzashi - Sakura - Pink Fade

Tsumami kanzashi are hair ornaments made of pinched silk that are traditionally worn by maiko (apprentice geisha) to decorate their hair for formal occasions. This set is a 3 piece set that includes the main trailing style hana kanzashi, a small mezashi with one flower, and a bridge of flowers over the back of the hair.

This set is sakura or cherry blossom which is a flower often worn in April. Because most sakura kanzashi have tiny flowers, it's harder to tell junior and senior styles apart for this month. Although trailing lines of flowers (shidare) are often worn by more junior maiko, senior maiko sometimes wear that style during sakura season as well.
