Skirts and dresses are made in the standard T-Pose and rigged to the legs. This is ok for sitting, but when walking or dancing the skirts move with the legs and deform. This AOs lock the green and yellow marked joints in the 0 positions (T-Pose), however your avatar is walking, standing, dancing ...
The most usefull AO for long skirts and dresses is
*** milevA's Locked Legs+Knees+Hip AO.
It locks upper legs (hip left and right) and knees (green dots) and the hip (yellow dot).
*** milevA's Locked Legs+Knees AO lets the lower body move around and might be good for a ghost costume ;)
For midi skirts and dresses one of this might help:

Mini skirts usually do not deform in that strange ways, but to complete the set I added
*** milevA's Locked Hip AO.
It locks the avatar in place and looks funny. Perhaps it might be usefull in other situations.
Simply wear/attach an AO, detach for off. If you need a reset, drop/rez to ground (it will be visible as a big box and shrinks and hides when worn).

I guess things are just too different these days? I tried it in 2025 and really didn't work in combination with the AOs I have now. My upper body just swings back and forth, rather silly looking. Without some kind of AO your arms just swing back and forth terribly with the default SL walk animation.

this CAN be used with other Aos. I decided to try it before buying these 700L and up formal dress Ao's just to see. And it is perfect. i wear a lot of formals and i am wearing this with my normal AO i always wear, locked at hips , legs, and knees. She moves about non stiff as the normal AO would just not the legs. the look is flawless, no complaints. Buy it!!!

to wear a long dress with a nice ao - prevent ugly folding with this hud. genius!
Does what its supposed to
Yes, it will look a little funny, and your avatar will look oddly stiff. However, I have yet to find a long dress that doesnt split while walking, so id rather look stiff, than have my avatar walking through her dress. The AO is just that- an AO, so you will have to remove the others you may be wearing in order to avoid some mishaps, like the torso moving oddly. Other than that, it does exactly as advertised.
