THIS IS A DEMO FOR THE REALLY USEFUL TRACK LIGHTS. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AS FOLLOWS. The demo deletes itself after 5 minutes.

A row of 4 directional lamps mounted on a ceiling track rail. (Note that "track lights" refer to a modern style of light fixture system which consists of a continuous track wired to power and lamps that can be affixed anywhere on the track. It does not actually "track" anything. The light script is based on what is possible through Linden Scripting Language or LSL.)

Version 6 update (Oct 2025)
------------------------------------
Three flavours of the track lights are now provided in this purchase.

1. Default track lights (same as in version 5.1)

2. Track lights with double power (brightness)

3. Track lights with 'real spotlight effect'. This uses the projector light feature in SL with a texture, to give the illusion of 4 directional/focus spot lights on the floor below the track lights. (Refer to section below for tips on customising the effect).

SCRIPT FEATURES

1. On/off switch, adjustable brightness (dimmer)

2. Choice of 9 light colours (clear white, soft white, blue white, blue, red, green, orange, pink, yellow)

3. Allows access to members of same group to which the light has been set to (owner always has access)

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The ceiling rail, individual lamps / cylinders are NOT separate links, so the angle where the lamps are pointing CANNOT be adjusted.

If you would like to be able adjust the direction where the spot lights are pointing, please consider the Really Useful Spotlamp.

To allow menu access to everyone, set the group of the object to None or send me a notecard to request slight customisation to the script.

PROJECTOR LIGHT TIPS

1. The 'really useful track lights with focus spotlight effect' uses the root prim (invisible) as the light source for the projection light.

2. By raising the track lights higher or lower, it will change the size and focus of the 4 spotlights on the floor. Note that the 4 spotlights are just an illusion and you can't move them around individually. You can however adjust the shape and placement of the spotlight effect slightly by editing the root prim's dimensions and position.

3. To change the focal length or area of the 4 spotlights on the floor without moving the track lights up or down (eg. your ceiling height is fixed), you can edit-linked and move only the root prim up and down, while keeping the mesh link in the same position.

4. The texture to apply on the light source is provided in the folder for reference (Mod, Copy). You can make a similar texture with white colour showing where the light shines and alpha (transparent) showing where the light is absent and use your own texture instead if you wish.
