The vPiano is a giant (2.73m, but resizable) 2-octave (23-key) monophonic player with genuine sampled piano sounds, which enables users to communicate tunes in-world by using the mouse to click notes. Power is controlled by the owner, but anyone may play. Once someone has started to play, the keyboard is only available to that person until the sequence of notes is terminated, which occurs 15 seconds after the last key has been clicked. Control buttons allow a range of sound & reporting options which are described below, namely: Replay, Sustain, Echo, Accidentals.
KEYBOARD:
When reported in chat, the lower octave keys are named in lower case (a - g), and the upper octave in upper case (A - G).
- White Notes: Click the front part of the keys, not between the black notes.-
- Black Notes: Click anywhere on the keys.
CONTROLS:
All control buttons brighten when activated and dim when deactivated.
The colour of all buttons except Accidentals can be changed by changing the <R,G,B> vector in Object Description (Edit Linked).
- Right:
* Power (circle): The device can be switched on /off by the owner.
* Text (triangle): Show floating text above buttons for 5 seconds
- Left:
All function buttons operate only when power is ON.
* Replay (red): When clicked, the last complete tune played is replayed without rhythm & with half-second timing.
* Sustain (green): When OFF, a note is sounded only for the duration of the click (mouse down); when ON, the note is sounded until another key is clicked, or until the sound dies away.
* Echo (blue): When ON, each clicked key is reported in chat.
* Accidentals (cyan/magenta/yellow): This control affects how black notes are reported:
- neutral (cyan): double letter using the names of the two white notes between which the black note lies, e.g. AB
- flats: single letter of white note name above + flat symbol, e.g. A♭
- sharps: single letter of white note name below + sharp symbol, e.g. G♯
