The Edo Town Tea Houses come in 2 different designs. It is an amazing building that illustrates the Japanese attitude toward aesthetics and the natural environment. The traditional Tea house is in some ways a religious expression as well as a dwelling. The Japanese "religious aesthetic" is evident in the traditional house and also in other art forms such as brush painting, flower arrangement and tea ceremony. A tea house or tearoom is a venue centered on drinking tea. Its function varies widely depending on the culture, and some cultures have a variety of distinct tea-centered houses or parlors that all qualify under the English language term "tea house" or "tea room." In Japanese tradition a tea house can refer to a structure designed for holding Japanese tea ceremonies. This structure and specifically the room in it where the tea ceremony takes place is called chashitsu. The architectural space called chashitsu was created for aesthetic and intellectual fulfillment.

All Edo Town buildings and structures are based on architecture to be found around the Kansai region in Japan. The Kansai region lies in the southern-central region of Japan's main island Honshu. The region includes the prefectures of Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto and Shiga. Sometimes Fukui, Tokushima and Mie are also included. While the use of the terms "Kansai" has changed over history, in most contexts the two can be considered the same. The Kansai region is the cultural and historical heart of Japan with 11% of its land area. The area also contains six of the seven top prefectures.

The Kansai region lays claim to the earliest beginnings of Japanese civilization. It was Nara, the most eastern point on the Silk Road, that became the site of Japan's first permanent capital. This period (AD 710-784) saw the spread of Buddhism to Japan in 745. The Kansai region also boasts the Shinto religion's holiest shrine at Ise Shrine (built in 690 AD) in Mie prefecture. The town Hosoi Mura lies in the Japan Kansai sim and is probably the best Japanese Edo period sim in Second Life. Visit the Town to pick up inspiration to start building your own scenery with the wonderful collection of building elements.
