kisetsu - Tsumami Kanzashi - Tessen - Indigo

Tsumami kanzashi are hair ornaments made of pinched silk that are traditionally worn by maiko (apprentice geisha) to decorate their hair for formal occasions. This set is a 3 piece set that includes the main maiko style hana kanzashi, a small mezashi with small flower buds, and a comb or kushi style kanzashi for in front of the mage, or bun, of the hairstyle.

This set is tessen or clematis which is a flower often worn in June and July. It is a less common flower for kanzashi, but can still come in several variations and styles. This style, with the large single bloom in front, would likely be worn by a more senior maiko.
