My aviation enthusiasm began at a very young age … building and flying model gliders, U control and radio control gas and electric models. Then a little over 40 years ago (yikes) when I was in my mid teens, a friend of my father took me up for a ride in his Aeronca Champ. It was a clear crisp fall day … I remember seeing how sharp the shadows were cast by the houses and trees … the automobiles looked like little toys. Then a voice came from the seat in front of me, “take the stick”. He asked me if I could see the white grain silo about 5 miles ahead and I replied "yes", he then said “fly to it”. Right then and there I was hooked … I was flying an airplane! From that point Aviation was in my blood forever. My father taught me how to fly a year or 2 later … I soloed on my 16th birthday but then I got a sniff of perfume and things went on hold until I finally got my Private License about 2 years later at age18. Many years later now I am a Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane and Instrument.
I’ve always tried to excel in aviation ... doing the very best I can, be the best pilot / instructor I can be. I came into SL in about 2007 and was surprised to find an aviation community. I bought my first helicopter … it was just ok … it didn’t fly too bad … but I thought things could be much better. Later on after flying different manufacturer’s airplanes and helicopters, I found 2 that were very, very excellent. Well, in my usual way I wanted to among the best builders also.
So that is how Accu-Flight came about. My desire is to build and script high quality aircraft and accessories with accurate flight characteristics at a reasonable price. There are limitations in SL but the models can get very close. After countless hours of scripting and test flying … The H-1 VIPER was born.
