Albion Class Exploration Ship Version 1.2a [ 26 September 2022 ]
'Albion' is an exploration ship evolved from the limited edition 'Balmoral' Class, which is no longer available, incorporating lessons learned from that model.
Built around a larger hull than the 'Balmorals', the sail plan and glider launch platform have been updated to a more practical layout while retaining the same capability to launch standalone dinghies and hang-gliders for local exploration of interesting Second Life locations.
Models are included in three hull colours, with two variants for each hull colour: a and b. The a's have gliders and dinghies that self-delete when you dismount them, to keep SL tidy; the b variants' gliders and dinghies don't self delete.
The dinghy is derived from our new 'Skipper' spritsail-rigged design, capable of carrying three passengers in addition to the captain. The dinghy can only be sailed by 'Albion's captain (owner), but the hang-gliders can be used by anyone and have been tweaked to land better than previous versions. A tent for comfortable on-deck sleeping while in hot tropical climes has two sleep poses.
Sailing controls for both 'Albion' and the dinghy are located on the HUD. 'Albion' has a four-speed motor as well as sails; the dinghy is sail-power only.
Please read (and ideally save a copy of) the Download Instructions below for the Owner's Manual.
Land Impact is a little on the high side because she's a big ship with fair detail, but she takes sim crossings happily enough in testing.
Download instructionsBeautiful ship, easy to handle
First off this is beautiful. I can't believe there are no reviews for this yet. I just had a try out, sailing down a long river, then the sea, back to my stilt home. It's easy to handle with a clear, easy to understand hud, very easy to use. It looks nothing like a free boat. If this had a price tag of 4.5 - 5k lindens in world, you wouldn't balk. The wood is gorgeous - and I love wood. There's great attention to detail. As I said, it's beautiful. It's great for slow, majestic exploring. But it (and I should say she, because she's beautiful) can pick up the pace when you want to. There are even full, clear instructions to download. I'm not sure what to do with the water file that came with it yet. I look forward to trying Lili's other boats later when I have time. This will hold it's own next to much more expensive boats. At 0 lindens, this is an absolute no-brainer and makes purchase of her other boats a very easy decision. It's already in my favourites list. There is a lot of love in this boat and that looks to be the case for all of them.
