On February 17, 2020, the Robeson County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution authorizing a “Do or Die” mission to seize the last remaining 8.1 acres of the North Carolina Indian Cultural Center.

Instead of offering to purchase the land for a fair price, they have moved to condemn the land using eminent domain. They had their personal surveyor value the land at less than half its original value, and have moved to punish the Chairman's wife because he did not sell the land. The Robeson County Attorney, Gary Locklear, is enacting full retribution through the use of fees, wage garnishments, and foreclosures of all of her properties. They are stripping her of everything that she owns, with intent to leave her family destitute and unable to defend the land in court.

The County Attorney then sent his legal assistant to her place of work with a Deputy Sheriff. They intimidated the Chairman's wife into signing some papers without her knowing what it was. It turns out the papers listed her as the “Executive Director” for the Indian Cultural Center, waiving all rights to defend the land. But the Chairman's wife was never the Executive Director for the Center at all. In fact, that position does not even exist at the Center.

In truth, the County Attorney prepared these false documents and got her to sign under duress. They targeted her because she was vulnerable and they wanted to take advantage of her while her husband was dying.
