Every single part is its own face so that you can edit how ever you desire.
To apply a new texture, or even just to tint/hide parts, you must rez the parts on the ground. Find a sim that allows rezzing like a sandbox.
Once you have your parts you want to edit on the ground, right click and go to EDIT.
Once in Edit mode, you may now choose 'Select Face' at the top of the edit menu. With Select Face activated, you can left click the parts you wish to apply new textures to/tint/hide.
Everything can be adjusted on its own! Feel free to customize how ever you like.
The textures are full perm so that you can edit them how you want and reupload them to Second Life for your perfect look. Feel free to sell your own texture creations.
Please dont sell the unedited textures though, as thats pretty silly.
