The Occult and Paranormal reached one of its peaks during the Victorian era with many people hosting seance parties and card reading events. A popular form of occult activity was the use of mirrors for scrying or divination, many of these being named Oculuses which roughly means eye and was used to denote things with oval or round openings.
Avid Occult seekers in the Victorian era would often have a mirror or room dedicated to a mirror for divination as they saw it to be a window into other realms.
This vanity has been created with those days in mind.
