Its a telephone & you use it much as you would a RL phone. The keys operate as expected (no dialog boxes, you click the actual keys).

Making Calls
---------------
1. Dial or select (see later) your number
2. Click the speaker button or the handset to make the call
- If you use the speaker then when connected anyone may chat & what they say is transmitted to the receiver
- If you have picked up the handset it becomes a private call from your end (not others).
But like in the real world will hear your side of any conversation unless you use the channel number provided instead of chat.
3. When finished hang up by clicking where the handset goes (if you picked it up) or the speaker button

Note: if the call is unanswered the phone automatically resets after about 60 seconds

Receiving Calls
------------------
1. Click the speaker button or the handset to accept the call
- If you use the speaker then when connected anyone may chat & what they say is transmitted to the receiver
- If you have picked up the handset it becomes a private call from your end (see above)

2. When finished hang up by clicking where the handset goes (if you picked it up) or the speaker button

During a call you may:-
1. Mute/Unmute the microphone/handset

2. Switch between speaker and handset
- Speaker to handset - click the phone (once)
- Handset to speaker - click the speaker button (once)
- Note: a 2nd click terminates the call

3. Adjust volume (It also changes the sound effect volumes & range people are away from the phone to be heard)

Address book functions
----------------------------
You may enter a number and save it as a favourite in the address book using the "Tick" button. Clicking a second time removes from favourites.
Another way to save a number as a favourite is to scroll it to the top of the screen in the addressbook and click the "Mail" button.

You may call up the address book by clicking the "Address" button (looks like an open book). This displays entries on the screen which may be scrolled up/down using the scroll buttons (middle of phone) or clicking a displayed entry or A to page up/B top page down.

To make a call scroll so the number you wish to call is at the top then follow the "Making Calls" instructions from step 2.

Ordering of names displayed:
1. Favourites
2. Phones with the same name in the same region
3. Phones with the same name grid wide
4. Other phones in the same region
5. All remaining phones

The "phone book" is now centralised and stored in 3 in world servers.

Other functions
------------------
Call back or VoiceMail - calls the last number called.

Handset
----------
When you click the handset a separate one is rezzed which attaches to your right hand and runs a suitable animation. This is only for appearance and does not affect any actual calls being made. The phone still relies on chat so if you move too far away you won't be heard (think of it like you have broken the cord attached to the phone, which can miraculously repair itself if you move in range again).

To put the handset down just click where the handset should go on the phone (clicking the phone in your hand does nothing).

Help
-----
Click the "i" button delivers this notecard

Setup
-------
1. Rez the phone

2. Edit the description to be the extension number & name
eg: Acme Inc.,123

3. Reset scripts or click the "Mars" button. Note this will reset the LSD database so favourites are lost.

Note the "Mars" button will reset the scripts if the clicker is the owner or has the same group as the phone activated and the phone is in open mode (see below)

If you want to deploy the higher resolution display version (5 lines x 48 characters instead of 32) there is a MOD/COPY version in the basic office phone. Note some users may not display the characters clearly unless they are right over them which is why we have the option. Also the land impact is higher.

Operating Modes
---------------------
The phone may be restricted by the owner by clicking the Globe button, to have certain operating modes which render it inert to unauthorized users.

Modes:
Open - anyone may use the phone (default after a reset). Group members may reset the phone.
Group - owner and group members
Friend or Group - owner, friends or group members
Friend - owner or friends
Owner - just the owner
