Introducing the "Night Wing"
This is a very sleek plane ( NOT a spacecraft)
With its sleek shape, cool jets recessed into the wongs, and retractable landing gear, this plane is relly fun to fly!
This is NOT a spacecraft, it doesnt hover! You must "take off" from an airport runway just like a real plane. This takes a bit of skill! But don't worry I am including a lenghty "Flying Tutotrial"!
Flying Instructions
1) PLANE - Obtain a plane that has a realistic flight script (not the hovering type) If you need a plane with this type of script contact Steve Atlanta for some inexpensive models
2) AIRPORT -Go to a sim that will accomodate flying...allows rezzing, has a runway (100m long or more), has several sims to fly across.
3) REZ - Drag your plane from your inventory to the ground to rez it.
4) PILOT IT - Right click on and sit in your plane. (or "fly" "pilot" etc)
5) START ROLLING - Hit the button on your keyboard that says "Page Up" This will act as the forward accelerator. It should now say 10% and the plane should begin to slowly move forward.
6) TAXI TO RUNWAY - Use the Right and Left arrows to drive the plane to the beginning of the runway, keeping it at 10% or 20% so as to not run into other airplanes.
7) ACCELERATE - Once you are pointed straightly on the runway, and there are no other planes taking off or landing, hit the page up button again to move faster along the runway. Hit it several times to get it to 50%
8) TAKE OFF - Once you are nearing the end of the runway, hit the "Down" arrow. This will point the plane up a bit and lift you off the runway in a realistic take off.
9) ATTAIN ALTITUDE - You might want to hit the Page up button again to bring the boost to 60%, this is a good moderate amount, above that and the flight might get uncontrollable.
10) LEVEL OFF - Use the arrows to direct the plane right and left, up and down, and I usually "level" the plane off at 100 m
11) USE MINIMAP - Click on the button that says "Minimap" near the bottom right of the Second Life Screen. It give North South East and West so it will act as your "compass" Fly where ever you want, to get places or to sight see. Higher altitudes ( above 300m) will have less traffic and a cool view of clouds. Lower altitudes (30 - 50 m) will allow viewing of the ground, convenient landing height. Keep an eye on the Mini Map and try to avoid the "corners" of the sims as this seems to cause some problems, its better to fly across sims in the middle of the borders.
12) DESCEND - When you know your near a runway you want to land at, in the sim one or two away from it, descend to about 50 m. To land, point yourself at the runway and go to about 30 m. when you see the runway use the "up" arrow to point the nose of the plane down.
13) SLOW DOWN - When you are near the runway begin to slow down to about 30% ( use the Page down button)
14) TOUCH DOWN - To land nicely, just before you hit the ground, lift the nose of the plane up by using the "down" arrow. At the same time slow to about 20%, then 10% when you touch down.
15) PARK PLANE - Stay at 10% and taxi around to park the plane off of the runway, to allow other planes to land.
