This is a fun little gadget that you can place in your home, shop, or club. It allows anyone to touch it and compose/send an email to ANY email address. No need to open up a browser!

Just 3 prims, with sculpted corners, rotating prims, and floating/animated texture during use.

► Works ONLY with SL Viewers 2+/3+ or compatible Third Party Viewers that support the "TextBox" pop up. Does NOT work with 1.x Viewers.

Uses pop-up 'TextBox' text entry, so no one sees the email address or message you are typing in-world. Your own email address is never entered, used, or seen, unless you purposely type it in your message. (Messages will appear to come from your avatar name).

No 20+ second script delay like some other email devices on Marketplace.

► Super easy to use:
1. Rez it (drag to ground from Inventory)
2. Touch it.

► Permissions:
Copy + Modify (change size, color, texture).
Scripts inside are copy only.

This is a PUBLIC device; anyone can use and enjoy it. Of course, only you (the Owner) can rez, copy, modify, or take it back to Inventory.

Enjoy :)

FAQs:

Q: What does the message look like to the Recipient?
A: Example:
_________________________________________
Object-Name: Sender: Jossie87Mean Foobnuts
Region: Glennplace (162304, 281856)
Local-Position: (42, 246, 21)

Hi Bobby,
I'm sending this message from inside SL!

Have a great day :)

Q: Can recipient reply to the email?
A: No, because the message comes from a SL object. However, you are welcome to type a return email address in the message itself, so people will know how to reach you, IF desired.

Q: Why Public? Why not private?
A: I may put up a private/group version later. But unlike some similar gadgets, my version does not suffer the usual 20-second LSL script lag when sending emails, so as soon as one user sends, the terminal is available to the next user. Besides, it's fun to watch strangers when they realize they can send email from inside SL.

Q: How "secure" is it?
A: It uses (private) pop-up TextBox entry, rather than public (Local Chat) typing, so no one sees anything you are typing.

Normally multiple terminals will NOT intefere with each other, but I do recommend placing them at least 25 m apart if that sort of thing worries you.

Q: I don't use the new Viewers. Does this email terminal work with 1.23/SnowGlobe 1.4, etc?
A: Nope, older viewers don't correctly support the new TextBox feature. However, I have a (non-secure) Public Email terminal available in my shop, in the "Communication Gadgets" package; it works with ANY Second Life or Third-Party Viewer. Look in the Related items below :)

Q: Do I need to register or enter my own email address/real name ?
A: Absolutely not. Just rez it, then touch to use.

  • Send secure emails from INSIDE Second Life.
  • Just rez it and touch to use.
  • A nice public service for your shop, club, or home.
  • ** For Type 2+ Viewers ONLY (with TextBox entry).
  • Does NOT use or reveal your own email address.
