Speedometer one-prim general vehicle instrument module

High quality, simple, accurate, low prim speedometer module

I hope you like this item, I take a lot of time and care when making all my things to work to a high quality standard, to make sure the textures are aligned and the scripts work. This item is one of a series of low prim instrument modules and is intended to be easily integrated in your own builds and vehicles.

This speedometer can be fitted in a housing or integrated in a dashboard or other control panel in any moving vehicle. You can also wear it by suitably resizing and putting it in an appropriate housing.

Technical Specification

The instrument has an owner only touch menu to set up the speed range and units of measurement.

KPH – kilometres per hour, low, medium and high ranges of speed.
MPH – miles per hour, low, medium and high ranges of speed.
KNOTS – nautical miles per hour, low, medium and high ranges of speed.

The middle range is 0 – 70 kph, 60 kph is roughly normal flying speed or about 15 seconds to cross a SIM. The low and high ranges are 0 – 30 and 0 – 120 respectively. Each speed range is available in all three units (9 faces total).

The information is accurate to within 1 degree scale rotation. To reduce computer load the module updates only twice per second so when accelerating, braking or turning rapidly the needle may spring a few degrees. Lag may also reduce the smoothness of operation of this instrument.

The module can be set up in any orientation and will work correctly, it can be linked with any suitable (modifiable) vehicle and does not have to be the root prim.

Night Lighting

If this instrument is fitted in one of my housings it can be night illuminated by touching the housing. Should you wish to do this yourself then I have included the control script. This script should be placed in the contents of any suitable prim that can be touched to activate the lighting. The prim used should be one of the same link build as the instrument but NOT the root prim. One script will control the lighting in all the instruments in the same build.

Permissions Disclaimer and things

This is a modifiable item so that you can change its size and link it easily to your build or vehicle. This also means that you can change textures and any of the other set-up parameters. I encourage experimentation, its how I learn to do things, but please be aware that you do this at your own risk. In plain text that means if you mess it up then get a new one out of your inventory.

Custom Graphics

If you want other graphics then ask me, unfortunately the textures and graphics often take more time than the entire rest of the product development, but you are still welcome to ask. It is not possible to simply use your own instrument graphics as they are called from the scripts, I am happy to discuss the integration of your own graphics if they are suitable.

I do not have a shop, just my island. You will find a working depth gauge, speedometer and gyro compass at in my submarine at Solitaire (168,21,21), so take a tour and check out the underwater world as well. Otherwise you can see the instruments for real in one of the stalls in the Arab Quarter on my SIM. How to get there? Simple, use the link below to get to Solitaire, left click the sign close to the landing site for the “Lost Souls Club” and you will be transported to the beginning of the Arab Quarter. You should find the stall, its one of the tidier ones – if only it wasn’t for the flies…..

Do come on over and have a look, the island is also worth a little exploration.

I have not tried to attach to a vehicle as per date of this review. However, I set it up as a HUD (must rotate it to get face). Simple, BS free, works as advertised, and - I can adjust the size of my copy!
Perfect!

120 km/h for Ground Vehicles
60 km/h for Aircraft
30 km/h for Boats

I've Give The 5 Star Rating For Functional and Operative and Useful HUD.
