Meet Gladys Swan. She was created using the Maitreya body and Lelutka Nova head.
Gladys Swan was born Galenka Silbermann in 1904. At the age of 15, she ran away from home to Hollywood in the hopes of becoming a silent film star. The first thing she did when she reached Hollywood was to change her Jewish sounding name to Gladys Swan, and to lie about her age. Gladys got a minor role in a Lillian Gish film, Broken Blossoms. For the next 7 years, Gladys had some success in the silent film era of Hollywood. However, as films started moving towards "talkies", Gladys found it more difficult to find work. Gladys had a strong accent that didn't translate well to the screen. This lack of work meant a lack of income, and lead to her losing her apartment. Gladys became dependent on her male companions to have a place to lay her head at night. This stress caused Gladys to have what she termed as episodes. She would go from being happy and the life of the party, to paranoia that people were out to kill her. A friend of Gladys' suggested that she visit a doctor to get some help for her episodes. The doctor prescribed her laudanum. As time went on, the lack of work continued and the episodes occurred more frequently, Gladys came to rely on laudanum heavily till a beau took her to an opium den and introduced her to heroin. Needless to say, heroin took over Gladys' life. The once beautiful promising young movie starlet became ravaged by drug abuse and everything that came with it. Gladys clung to the illusion that she was still someone, but time would quickly show that any celebrity she enjoyed had disappeared into the syringe.
