LIGHTING SYSTEM OVERVIEW
This system includes a LIGHT and a SWITCH which MUST BE LINKED to work. (Both 1 prim each at standard size)
It's fully scripted to adjust light settings via the menu.
The light and switch includes high detail texturing with PBR materials enabled so it has a realistic finish and shine. The textures are also greyscale so you can easily tint to whatever color you want.
The light features a directional spotlight source that spreads out onto the floor below and surrounding walls.
To get the full effect of these lights and see the lighting source, you will need to have your viewers 'Advanced Lighting Model' checked in your graphics settings. This is on by default when graphics are set to Very High or Ultra.
The system is designed to be as low-lag as possible. It only uses one listener for the whole linkset; this is open only when the menu is in use, and will time-out and shut down if the menu is left open.
CONFIGURATION
THE LIGHT
You can rez as many lights as you want but they MUST BE LINKED to the switch to work.
Inside the LIGHT is a configuration notecard called 'Switch Names'. This tells the LIGHT which SWITCH to respond to. So you could have multiple switches that operate different lights all in the same linkset.
Open up the notecard and you will see the names of the two default switches 'GCD - Light Switch TYPE 1' and 'GCD - Light Switch TYPE 2'.
You can change the names of the switches to whatever you want, just enter the names (case sensitive) of the switch or switches to which it is to respond, one name per line. Link the prims up and then RESET THE SCRIPTS. (To reset the scripts: right click and select the linkset and go into edit mode and then from your viewer choose Build > Scripts - Reset Scripts.)
THE SWITCH
There are 2 styles of switch design included in the pack: 'GCD - Light Switch TYPE 1' and 'GCD - Light Switch TYPE 2'. They both work exactly the same. Choose which ever best suits your build.
The switch controls many aspects of the light including: On/Off Radius, Intensity, Color, Falloff, Beam Alpha and Lens Glow via a drop down menu.
MENU FUNCTIONS
ON/OFF : Self explanatory but also note that the light remembers it's settings so if you turn the light off and on again no settings are reset.
COLOR: Choose from : White, Orange, Fuchsia, Sky, Pink, Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, Purple.
BEAM ALPHA: Sets the transparency value of the light beam texture around the light; (Off / 10% / 25% / 50%/ 75% / 100%)
LENS GLOW: Adjusts glow settings of the light lens (0.02 to 1.0)
RADIUS: Light radius (1 meter to 20 meters)
INTENSITY: Light intensity( 0% to 100%)
FALLOFF: Light Falloff (0 to 2.0)
RESET : Reset all settings to original default values: (Color White/ Intensity 1.0 / Radius 5 / Falloff 0 / Glow 0.02 / Alpha 75%)
ACCESS
Inside the SWITCH you will see a 'Configuration' notecard. Use this to set who can use the light switch. Choose from Owner, Group or Public. Save the notecard and reset the scripts.
LIMITATIONS
Please remember that in SL you can only see light from 6 light sources at any time. (8 with Advanced Lighting Model, this includes Sun/Moon projections) So if the system is working in other ways, like changing the lights colors, for example but the light source itself is behaving strangely or flickering, try removing some of the lights.
It doesn't really matter how you link up the prims, but I would strongly suggest you make sure the linkset's root prim doesn't contain one of the sender scripts, otherwise the system may behave in ways you neither expect nor want.
EXTRAS!!!
I've included a FREE Electric Socket in the pack which matches the Light Switches just to help add a little extra detail to your builds or scene.

wonderful lighting system
just moved into my home and was looking for an elegant lighting solution.
this design with the detailed light switches and the ability to easily link them with the ceiling light is just what I was looking for.
can't say enough positive things about this <3
if there'd be one thing to "improve" it would be to integrate the access controls into the menu functions instead of having to edit it into a NC and having to reset scripts
