★ The Faun - inspiration ★

The Faun (Faunus) is a rustic forest god or goddess of Roman mythology, similar to the satyr, often associated with enchanted woods. Half human, half goat, with hooves, horns of goat and the torso and head of a human it is a manifestation of forest and animal spirits which would help or hinder humans at whim. The female, Fauna, is a goddess said in differing ancient sources to be the wife, sister, or daughter of Faunus.
Romans believed they inspired fear in men traveling in lonely, remote or wild places. They were also capable of guiding humans in need. They connected them with the Greek Satyr, wild and orgiastic drunken followers of Dionysus.
The god Faunus reproduced himself in Fauns, half man half goat satyrs. They were rural spirits who rejoiced in nature and the company of Nymphs. Thus Faunus personality was spread and increased.
